The main image
- Pure white background — Hex #FFFFFF, RGB 255-255-255.
- A front view of the product, shown completely with nothing clipped.
- The product fills at least 85% of the image, at a ratio close to 3:4.
- Adult clothing worn by a model (except accessories, transparent items and childrenswear).
- Only the product for sale — no extra items, props or distracting accessories.
- Every colour has its own image.
What gets a main image rejected
- A background that is not pure white.
- Borders, logos, watermarks, text, colour blocks or inset images.
- A visible mannequin, hanger or holder, or a folded product.
- Several views or several colours in one image (unless sold as a multipack).
- Packaging, tags, certificates or brochures.
- A selfie-style shot, black and white only, or a model lying down or kneeling.
- Sketches or drawings instead of a real photo.
Size: the one number that varies
Amazon's guides do not agree on the minimum. The Amazon.sg clothing guide asks for 1,600 px or more on the longer side to enable zoom; other Amazon guides set it lower. The safe answer for Amazon.in is to deliver at least 2,000 px on the long side — and to confirm the current figure in Seller Central.
From Amazon's India seller blog
- Use a white background for all products — if the product itself is white, tweak the tone slightly so the two stay distinct.
- The main image shows the front of the product; a back view is not suitable as the main image.
- Show only what the customer will receive — no additional products or accessories.
- Avoid immodest content; for intimate apparel, focus on the product, not the model.
Sarees, kurtis and lehengas on Amazon
These are adult clothing, so the main image is on a model, front view, on pure white, filling most of the frame. A saree's main image should show the full drape — pleats, pallu and border — in one standing frame. Use the other image slots for the back, the pallu close-up, the border and the blouse.

What background does Amazon need for clothing?
Pure white — Hex #FFFFFF, RGB 255-255-255 — for the main image.
Must clothing be on a model on Amazon?
For adult clothing, Amazon's style guide shows the main image on a model. Childrenswear must not be shown on a child model, and accessories and transparent items are exceptions.
What size should Amazon product images be?
Amazon's guides set the minimum between 1,000 and 1,600 px on the longer side, depending on the marketplace. Delivering 2,000 px or more is safe; confirm the current Amazon.in figure in Seller Central.
Can I use a mannequin on Amazon?
Not in the main image. A visible mannequin, hanger or holder is not allowed there.
