How many product photos per listing depends on the marketplace: Flipkart asks for at least two, Nykaa and Snapdeal at least five, Myntra allows one to seven and Tata CLiQ one to twenty. Plan six photos per garment. That clears every stated minimum and stays inside Myntra's cap.
How many product photos per listing, by marketplace
| Marketplace | Count stated | Label | Extra detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon.in | Not stated | Official guides | Every colour has its own image |
| Myntra | 1 to 7, varies by category | Partner-documented | Check your category |
| Flipkart | At least 2, 3 preferred | Partner-documented | Apparel needs front and back |
| Meesho | More than one recommended | Official | Clear front image first |
| AJIO | Four-shot sequence in our AJIO guide | Partner-documented, as cited there | Front, side, back, fabric close-up |
| Nykaa | At least 5, different angles | Partner-documented | Vendor guide adds front, back, close-up |
| Tata CLiQ | 1 to 20 | Partner-documented | Vendor blog warns a single image can be rejected |
| Snapdeal | At least 5, in a set order | Official | Size chart in centimetres is the recommended sixth |
Snapdeal is the only one of these that sets an order as well as a count. For women's and ethnic wear it asks for a close-up, two detail shots, a full look and a fabric close-up, with a size chart as the recommended sixth. That sequence is a good template even where a marketplace does not ask for it.
The six jobs a listing's photos must do
- Main image: the whole garment, front, clean background. It decides the click.
- Back: the neckline, closure and anything printed or embroidered behind.
- Fall and movement: a three-quarter or side view that shows how the fabric drapes.
- Fabric: a close-up of the weave, print or work. This is the photo that answers is it good quality.
- Detail: the neckline, border, sleeve or the one feature the buyer cares about.
- Size or set information: a size chart, or the pieces included in a set.
Saree shot list
Sarees go through Drape Studio. The buyer needs to see the whole drape first and the cloth second.
| No. | Shot | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Full drape, front, standing | The main image: pleats, pallu and border in one frame |
| 2 | Back or side view | How the pallu falls and how the blouse sits |
| 3 | Pallu close-up | The most decorated part, and the part buyers zoom into |
| 4 | Border or zari close-up | Proof of the work, shot from your own photo of the cloth |
| 5 | Blouse piece | What is included, and whether it is stitched or unstitched |
| 6 | Fabric macro | The weave, in your own close-up photo, so the texture is the real one |
Kurti shot list
Kurtis go through Catalogue Studio. Buyers judge line, length and print, and the hem should never be cropped.
| No. | Shot | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Full length, front, standing | The main image: neckline to hem, print placement |
| 2 | Back | Back neck, yoke, tie-ups or back print |
| 3 | Three-quarter or side | Fall of the hem, side slit, sleeve shape |
| 4 | Closer crop | Neckline, placket or embroidery |
| 5 | Seated or in motion | How the fabric moves and sits at the hip |
| 6 | Size chart | Measurements in centimetres (Snapdeal recommends this as the sixth image) |
Lehenga shot list
Lehengas go through Drape Studio, where the skirt, choli and dupatta each have their own slot. Bridal pieces justify more than six; party wear can stop at six.
| No. | Shot | Why it is there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Full look, front | The main image: skirt, choli and dupatta together |
| 2 | Back view | The choli back and the fall of the dupatta |
| 3 | Skirt flare, side or three-quarter | How much flare the skirt has, which is what buyers ask about |
| 4 | Embroidery or zari close-up | The work, shot from your own detail photo |
| 5 | Choli close-up | Neckline, sleeve and back design |
| 6 | Dupatta | Border, fall and whether it is a single or a double |
What a six-shot set costs
Six 2K shots of one garment cost about ₹60–₹75 on a Create order, ready in about 3–4 minutes. If you generate images yourself, a 2K image is about ₹40–₹50 each. For a catalogue, the numbers add up across products, so decide your standard set once and keep it the same across the range.
- Six photos per garment, each answering a different buyer question.
- The main image first: whole garment, front, clean background.
- A back view for every garment with a back design.
- A fabric close-up from your own photo.
- A size chart as a final image where sizing applies.
- A check against each marketplace's own count and order before you upload.
How many product photos should I upload per listing?
Six is a good target for a garment. It clears the stated minimums we found (up to five at Nykaa and Snapdeal) and stays within Myntra's cap of seven.
How many images does Myntra allow per listing?
Fynd Commerce's documentation of Myntra's rules says 1 to 7 images, and that the number can differ by category.
How many images does Flipkart need for clothing?
Fynd's documentation says at least 2, with 3 preferred, and apparel needs front and back views.
How many images does Meesho need?
Meesho's own supplier page recommends more than one image and a clear front image. It states no maximum in what we read.
How many images can I add on Tata CLiQ?
Fynd's documentation says 1 to 20 images and that you can reorder them after upload.
What photos should a saree listing have?
The full drape from the front, a back or side view, the pallu, the border or zari, the blouse piece and a fabric close-up.
Should every listing have a size chart image?
Where sizing applies, yes. Snapdeal's own document recommends a size chart in centimetres as the sixth image for fashion categories. Sarees and unstitched material do not need one.
