Flipkart image guidelines for clothing are not published on a public Flipkart page we could read. Fynd Commerce's documentation of Flipkart's rules says images are JPEG, at least 1000 × 1000 px, and for apparel on light grey with a soft shadow, with front and back views mandatory. Confirm it in Seller Hub.
Flipkart image guidelines that apply to every product
These come from Fynd's image-guidelines page for Flipkart. They are general rules, not fashion rules:
- Resolution of at least 1000 × 1000 px.
- JPEG only.
- White or light grey background.
- No price tags, stickers or product tags on the image.
- No text or watermark.
- A solo product should be shown without additional props.
- Images must not be cropped, extended or elongated. Blurred or pixelated images are not allowed, and no part of the product may be out of focus.
- No photoshopped images of celebrities, no ratings or comparisons with other brands, and nothing offensive or objectionable.
- At least 2 images; the page says 3 is preferred and that the number may vary by product.
Fynd's FAQ adds that images go into the Flipkart template as URLs and can be reordered after upload. It states no file-size limit.
Flipkart image guidelines for apparel
The clothing section of the same page is stricter than the general rules. Fynd lists:
- Show the product without its packaging.
- Background: light grey with a soft shadow is required. Plain white is not accepted.
- Front and back views are mandatory. Side views are optional.
- Models must not wear ill-fitting garments, whether loose or extremely tight.
- Soft, natural lighting; no heavy or extremely bright light.
- No creases or folds: the garment must be properly pressed.
- The same model and the same skin tone across all shots. Mannequins are not allowed.
- If the product has more than one unit, the first image must show all of them.
- A pocket view is optional but recommended if the product has pockets.
Footwear and accessories (if you sell them with clothing)
| Category | Mandatory angles | Also in Fynd's list |
|---|---|---|
| Footwear | Front, back, angled, top and sole; tip and heel for sandals | Side and zoomed views optional; footwear must fit the model; no mannequins; no heavy accessories |
| Accessories | Front and back; angled shots for sunglasses | Include the casing if one is supplied; no dust, stains, scratches or engraving; model should wear no other accessories |
Where the Flipkart sources disagree
| Item | Fynd, guidelines page | Fynd, FAQ page | Streamoid (seller-reported) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum size | 1000 × 1000 px | Printed as “200x1000”, with 1000 × 1000 preferred; reads like a typo | Minimum 1000 × 1000 px |
| Background | White or light grey; apparel light grey, white not accepted | Primary image white | White or light |
| Number of images | At least 2; 3 preferred | Minimum 2, maximum 5; varies by category | No fixed number; front, back, close-up and lifestyle suggested |
| Frame fill | Not stated | Not stated | Product fills 80% of the frame |
| Format | JPEG only | JPEG only | Not stated |
| Apparel shot type | Model; mannequins not allowed | Not stated | Model or flat lay |
The Streamoid guide says a flat lay is fine for apparel and fills 80% of the frame. Neither of those appears in Fynd's pages, and Streamoid is a vendor, so treat them as practice, not policy. Fynd's maximum of 5 in the FAQ is also not on its guidelines page, so do not plan a seven-image set for Flipkart without checking the limit for your category.
A safe Flipkart image setup for fashion
- Portrait 3:4 at 1000 × 1000 px or larger on every side. Larger is safe.
- A light grey studio with a soft shadow, not pure white, for clothing.
- Front and back views for every listing, and a side view if the cut matters.
- The same model, same skin tone, same styling in every image of one listing. No mannequin.
- A pressed garment in a well-fitted size, in soft natural light.
- No text, sticker, tag, price, logo overlay or watermark, and no props.
- JPEG. Between 2 and 5 images unless your category shows a different limit.
- If the product is a pack, the first image shows every unit.
How Vastralook's output maps to Flipkart's rules
Drape Studio has a Flipkart preset, for sarees and lehengas only. It sets Light Grey Studio, 3 poses (Front Standing, Left Profile, Back View), 2K, 3:4 and JPEG, with an Indian Model. That matches the grey background, the front and back angles and the JPEG rule above. The preset only fills the fields in; you can change any of them. Every other garment goes through Catalogue Studio, which has no Flipkart preset, so choose a plain light grey studio style, a 3:4 ratio and 2K yourself, and use View to check the style first.
| Quality (3:4) | About | Against 1000 × 1000 px |
|---|---|---|
| 1K | 896 × 1200 px | Width is under 1000 px |
| 2K | 1792 × 2400 px | Clears it |
| 4K | 3584 × 4800 px | Clears it |
Three poses of one garment on one model is three shots, since a batch is garments × models × styles. At about ₹10–₹13 per 2K shot on a Create order, three shots come to about ₹30–₹38 across our credit packs, each ready in about 3–4 minutes. Generating the image yourself is about ₹40–₹50 for 2K. Keep the same model across the whole listing: Flipkart's apparel rule asks for the same model and skin tone in every image.
What image size does Flipkart need for clothing?
Flipkart publishes no pixel size we could read. Fynd Commerce's documentation of Flipkart's rules says at least 1000 × 1000 px, JPEG only. Fynd's FAQ prints a different figure that reads like a typo. Confirm in Seller Hub.
Does Flipkart accept a white background for clothing?
Fynd's apparel section says light grey with a soft shadow is required and white is not accepted. Its FAQ and some seller blogs say white. For clothing, choose light grey, and check your category in Seller Hub.
How many images can I upload to a Flipkart listing?
Fynd's guidelines page says at least 2, with 3 preferred. Its FAQ says a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5, varying by category. Check the limit shown in your listing template.
Are mannequin photos allowed on Flipkart?
Fynd's apparel rules say mannequins are not allowed, and that the same model and skin tone must be used in every shot. A flat lay is mentioned only by a vendor guide, not by Fynd.
Is a front and back view compulsory on Flipkart?
For apparel, Fynd lists front and back views as mandatory and side views as optional. For footwear and accessories the mandatory angles differ.
Can I use AI model photos on Flipkart?
We found no Flipkart statement on AI-generated images, for or against. The image must show the real garment: same colour, print and details. Check Seller Hub and keep a real photo of the piece.
