Some Meta ad formats ask for more. A search extract of Meta's pages for collection ads and for frames on catalogue ads mentions at least 1080 × 1080 px, and a size under 1 MB for the framed format. That is a reason to export at 1080 × 1080 rather than 500: the same files can serve a later ad.
Why square matters for clothing
A garment photographed in portrait gets cropped into a square in the catalogue grid. A kurti shot from neckline to hem has its hem or its neckline trimmed if it is not composed for the crop. Put the whole garment inside a square with a margin, rather than letting the app crop it for you.
Our output at 3:4 is about 1792 × 2400 px at 2K. Cropping a full-height square from that gives 1792 × 1792 px, which is a lot of headroom over 1080. Choose the crop yourself so the hem and the neckline both stay in frame.

- JPEG, saved at high quality, well under 8 MB.
- Whole garment in frame with a margin, hem and neckline both visible.
- Plain light background and no text, price sticker or watermark.
- Front image first, then back, a detail and a fabric close-up.
- Colour checked against the real garment in daylight.
