A wedding season catalogue plan starts from the day you want your listings live and works backwards: hero lehengas and sarees first, the rest of the range in one batch, then exports for each channel. Wedding dates change every year, so check the exact dates for your region and plan from those.
Wedding season is the longest and most valuable run of the year for a lehenga or saree seller, and it is the one that punishes late photos the hardest. A bride, or the family shopping for her, does not decide a week before the event. They browse, shortlist and compare for weeks. If your range is not photographed and listed by then, they have already shortlisted someone else.
Your wedding season catalogue plan, backwards from launch
Pick the date your buyers start looking, then subtract. Whatever you do, do not start the plan on the first day of the season.
| When | What to finish | Why it comes first |
|---|---|---|
| 8 to 10 weeks before | Pick the hero pieces and lock the fabric photos | Everything else is built from these photos |
| 6 to 8 weeks before | Shoot the hero pieces: more shots, more angles | The bridal and high-ticket pieces carry the most revenue per listing |
| 4 to 6 weeks before | Shoot the rest of the range in one batch | Same models and setting, so the catalogue reads as one collection |
| 3 to 4 weeks before | Export for each channel; build WhatsApp and line-sheet versions | Marketplaces, your store and trade buyers each need their own sizes |
| Season start | Everything live, only top-ups left | You are selling, not still shooting |
Tier your range before you shoot
Not every piece deserves the same number of shots. A heavy bridal lehenga is bought on trust, so it needs a wider spread: front, back, a close crop on the embroidery, and the dupatta styled. A plain georgette saree for a guest can do with fewer. Decide your tiers on paper first.
- Hero pieces: the bridal and highest-priced designs. More shots each, including a close-up of the work.
- Core range: the pieces that sell steadily. A standard set per piece.
- Add-ons: blouses, dupattas, kurtas for the wedding party. One or two shots each is usually enough.
How the shooting works
- 1. Photograph each piece flat
One clean photo of the piece, laid flat, filling the frame, shot square-on. The output is built from this photo, so wrinkles and shadows in it can show up in the result.
- 2. Sarees and lehengas: Drape Studio
Drape Studio is the studio for sarees and lehengas. For a saree you upload the fabric and mark the pallu line; for a lehenga you upload the skirt, blouse and dupatta fabrics separately.
- 3. Everything else: Catalogue Studio
Add the garments, pick models, pick styles or a ready-made package, then check the Summary tab. Garments x models x styles is how many shots the batch will make.
- 4. Place the order
Each order type shows its price on the button and in its info panel before you pay. Standard is made at 2K and takes about 3–4 minutes; it also includes one free Recreate per shot.
What a wedding season catalogue costs
Work the number out before you start. A Standard order shot at 2K costs ₹10–₹13 per shot, depending on the credit pack you buy. As an example, 20 hero shots would come to ₹200–₹250, and 100 shots to ₹1,000–₹1,250. If you would rather make images yourself in the studio instead of placing an order, a 1K image costs ₹20–₹25. Prices are read from the same source as the studio, so they match what you see on the button.
Before the season, check these
- The embroidery and zari are readable on a phone screen, not only on a large monitor.
- Colour in the image is close to the real fabric. Brides are unforgiving about colour, and it is a common reason for returns.
- The same model and setting run across the collection, so it looks like one range.
- You have a version for each channel: marketplace sizes, store, and a square or portrait one for WhatsApp.
- The photo you upload is of the actual piece you will ship.
When should I start photographing for wedding season?
Start from the date you want your listings live and work back several weeks. Check the actual wedding dates for your region each year, because the busy months move with the calendar.
Can I use the same photos on Myntra, Amazon and my own store?
You can export the same shot for different channels. Each marketplace has its own picture rules, so check the current guidelines of the one you list on.
Should I shoot lehengas in Drape Studio or Catalogue Studio?
Lehengas and sarees go through Drape Studio. Catalogue Studio is for the rest of your range.
How many shots should a bridal lehenga get?
More than a basic piece. A front view, a back view, a close crop on the work and a styled dupatta shot is a sensible spread. Decide your tiers before you start.
What does a wedding season batch cost?
It depends on the shot count and the credit pack. The studio shows the total on the order button before you pay, and this post works out an example.
