This Drape Studio FAQ answers the questions sellers ask most: upload one full-saree photo, set the cut with four pins or a lasso, mark the pallu line, optionally set a repeat and a blouse, press Use this cut, choose poses, then order. Every answer below follows the studio as it works today.
We wrote these from the studio's own guide steps, not from memory, so each answer names the control you will see on screen. If a button has moved since this was written, the in-studio Tour replays the current walkthrough.
Drape Studio FAQ: the photo
What photo do I upload?
In the Saree Drape tab, under Primary Saree Fabrics, upload one photo of the full saree, body and pallu together. Use your original product photo, never an earlier AI image. Crop tight: whatever is in the photo (floor, table, hanger) is read as part of the saree. This one photo decides the colours, the fabric and the border of every shot.
Can I shoot a lehenga here?
Yes. In the first card, Upload Design, choose Lehenga instead of Saree, and you upload the skirt, blouse and dupatta fabrics separately. Saree is the default.
Which garments go in Catalogue Studio instead?
Drape Studio is for sarees and lehengas; Catalogue Studio is for every other garment. A switch at the top of the screen moves between the two.
The cut
What does the cut column do?
As soon as the photo arrives, the studio finds the cloth and opens it in the cut column, straightened. The icons down its left side are tools: Adjust cut, Rotate, Remove background, Pallu line, Repeat line, Fine angle and Repeats. Hover over one to read its name. A Cut / Repeated cloth switch shows either your photo with its outline, or the fabric as it will be tiled across the drape.
How do I place the corners?
Press Adjust cut to open the big editor. Four numbered pins sit on the corners of the cut. Drag each onto a corner of the cloth. Each pin moves on its own, so a pin you already placed never shifts. The green outline is exactly what gets cut. Drag a side's middle dot inward to bend just that side, hold Shift to move the whole side, and drag inside the outline to slide the whole cut.
What is the lasso for?
Lasso traces round the cloth freehand when it is not a neat rectangle in the photo. Tap to place a point, tap again for the next; a dotted line follows your pointer. Close the shape with Close shape, by tapping the first point, or by pressing Enter. Afterwards, drag any point to refine it, double-click the outline to add a point, or double-click a point to remove one. A shape always keeps at least three points.
What if my photo is slightly tilted or sideways?
Rotate turns the cloth a quarter turn for a photo shot sideways. Fine angle straightens a slightly tilted weave a little at a time; it is greyed out until it has something to straighten. Remove background takes the background out and cuts round the cloth; press it again to bring the photo's own background back.
Pallu line and repeats
What does the pallu line do?
Press Pallu line and a line appears across the cloth with an orange band over the pallu end. Drag it to where the pallu begins. Press the tool again to move the pallu to the other end or to take the line away. It tells the studio which design goes where (pallu, pleats, border); without it the pallu design can land on the pleats.
What are the repeat line and Repeats?
Both are optional. If the body of the saree repeats a pattern, press Repeat line and drag the blue line to where one repeat ends; the studio then repeats just that section along the saree. Repeats lets you pick 1 to 8 as the number of times the section repeats along the length. Switch to Repeated cloth to see the result.
Blouse
How does the blouse work?
The Blouse Fabric slot is optional. Skip it and the blouse is made from your saree. Upload a blouse fabric and the Adjust Blouse Pattern window opens: choose whether it is cut from your saree's cloth or the uploaded fabric, pick the sleeve length (Sleeveless, Short, Elbow or Full), drag the fabric behind each piece to choose which part of the print is used, then press Finalize. The slot then shows a Finalized badge, with Replace, Adjust and Remove. Crop the blouse photo to just the blouse piece, because a photo that also shows the saree border puts that border on the blouse.
Drape, poses and ordering
What does Use this cut do?
It closes the editor and drapes the saree on the model, which takes a few seconds. If you change the cut later, the button turns back into Update drape and pulses, so you know the picture is out of date. Matches this cut means nothing has changed since the drape was drawn.
How do I choose poses?
The Styles tab shows your saree draped on each pose. Tick the ones you want; pick more than one to shoot the same saree in several poses at once, one shot each. The number of poses ticked is the number of shots you get.
What are Instant, Budget and Standard?
They are the three ways we can make your shots, as buttons under Create order. Instant: 1–2 min. The fastest way: your shots start right away. Budget: 5–10 min. Costs less than Instant. Your shots take a little longer. Standard: 3–4 min. The lowest price, at 2K. Every shot can be recreated once at no charge. They stay greyed out until you have a saree fabric, a model and a style; hover over a button to see what is missing.
What does it cost?
The ⓘ beside each button shows the price per shot at 1K, 2K and 4K, the total for the order and how long it takes. Nothing is charged until you press the button itself. For rough scale, a Create order at 2K is about ₹10–₹13 per shot depending on the pack you buy, and a 4K image costs 2 times a 1K one when you generate it yourself.

| Price | Shown in the ⓘ before you order |
After you order
Where do I follow my shots?
In the Orders tab. It updates itself while something is running. Cancel stops a shot still waiting its turn and its credits come back to you. A failed shot says what went wrong, and its credits come back too. Finished shots show as pictures, with Download all above the order, and a ⋯ menu on each: Export shot, Export with logo and Recreate. Recreate shows a Free badge while a free recreate is left on that shot (Standard orders).
Can I put my logo on the shots?
Yes. In the optional Branding card, add your logo (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or AVIF, up to 5 MB; a transparent PNG works best) or a client's, pick the position, opacity, size and margin, and press Save placement. Each finished shot then offers Export with logo.
How do I use Drape Studio?
Upload one full-saree photo in the Saree Drape tab, set the cut with four pins or the lasso, mark the pallu line, press Use this cut, tick poses in Styles, then choose Instant, Budget or Standard under Create order.
What photo works best for the saree drape?
One original product photo of the full saree, body and pallu together, cropped tight, with the weave visible. Do not upload an earlier AI image.
What is the pallu line in Drape Studio?
A draggable line that marks where the pallu begins and which end of the cloth it is, so the pallu design lands on the shoulder and not on the pleats.
Can I use a different blouse fabric?
Yes. Upload it in the Blouse Fabric slot, choose the sleeve length, place the print in Adjust Blouse Pattern and press Finalize. Without a blouse fabric, the blouse is made from your saree.
Is Drape Studio available in Hindi and Gujarati?
Yes. The language control in the studio header shows the whole studio in English, Hindi or Gujarati.
What if I change the cut after the drape is made?
The button turns into Update drape and pulses. Press it to draw the drape again from your latest cut.
Disclosure: Vastralook is our own product. This FAQ describes controls as they exist at the time of writing; a new release can move or rename a button, and the in-studio Tour always shows the current screen.
