How to Sell Sarees on Amazon India: Photos and Setup

To sell sarees on Amazon India you register a Seller Central account, apply for approval in the Clothing and Accessories category, then list with photos that follow Amazon's clothing style guide. Amazon's page says you need a GST number or PAN and an active bank account.

How to sell sarees on Amazon India: the start

   Have your documents ready

   Amazon.in's start-selling page says a GST number or PAN, and an active bank account. Its clothes page words it as GST and PAN information, so have both to hand.

   Register on Seller Central

   The page says you have to register as a seller on Amazon Seller Central, and estimates 15 minutes to set up the account.

   Apply for the clothing category

   The saree blog says all sellers must complete an application to apply in the Clothing and Accessories category. Its page says Amazon approval is the only requirement for selling sarees. It is from 2017, so check the current screens.

   List with the style guide in hand

   Titles, descriptions and images must follow Amazon's Clothing and Accessories style guide, per the saree blog. Photos are the part you prepare in advance.

   Choose how you deliver

   The clothes page lists Fulfilment by Amazon, Easy Ship or Self-Ship. Payouts come in 7-day cycles after Amazon fees are deducted. The page gives no fee amounts.

The photos a saree listing on Amazon India needs

• Amazon's clothes page: for new listings give a size chart and 5 model images as per the guidelines in Seller Central, and include wash-care instructions and material details.
• Amazon's saree blog: format images consistently so customers can compare colour and texture, and upload the exact image that matches your product title.
• Amazon's clothing style guide summary (issued for Amazon.sg, March 2022): main image on pure white, product filling at least 85%, a front view, 1,600 px or larger on one side, and a model for most clothing. It is not the Amazon.in page, so confirm the figures in Seller Central.
